BLACK WRITERS MATTER!

Author Talk!
"You should write because you love the shape of stories and sentences and the creation of different words on a page. Writing comes from reading, and reading is the finest teacher of how to write."
--Annie Proulx

Darrell Bracey
Author
Darrell “DB” Bracey, Jr. is an African-American writer born and raised in Washington, D.C. DB was inspired to write by a fellow prison writer, Jason Poole. While behind prison walls, he put all his focus and determination to become a successful writer and start his very own clothing line, called “BoutdatLyfe.” DB stepped out on faith and penned his first novel “Concrete Jungle” and two years later penned his second novel “A Gain for a Loss.” DB has had much success with both novels and his clothing line. He is actively utilizing his voice to change the stigma behind the term “prison writer.” He would like other young men of color to know your circumstances do not make the man, pour your heart into your dream, and make it a reality. DB is determined his circumstances will not prevent him from building a successful brand and generational wealth for his family. In addition to books, DB also has a clothing line. His clothing line can be purchased on boutdatlyfe.com. You can also purchase his books on Amazon.com.
